EVENT DETAILS
Corroboree, Artefact Demonstration and Native Foods Lunch
A corroboree is a way we give back to mother earth - an ancient cultural practice that has been passed down through generations. We share stories through dance and song, celebrating the creation of our native animals and paying our respects to the lessons they hold.
Our old people have been sharing stories since the beginning of time. We are proud to continue this practice and share it with future generations and the wider community. In doing so, we honour our history and our ancestors, making sure they live on in everything we do.
At the artefact demonstration, we will showcase our ancient artefacts and explain their uses. We will discuss the cuts on the boomerang that make it fly and return, how we find the right wood for our clubs and didgeridoo, and demonstrate how they work. We will finish with a Q&A session.
Following the corroboree, artefact demonstration and smoking ceremony, we’ll share a delicious meal provided by the exciting new Aboriginal women-led social and cultural enterprise, Blak Cede Cafe (https://blakcede.com.au). Lunch will feature native and ancient ingredients with a modern twist. There will be gluten free, vegan and kids options available.
