What to Expect
Day 1: Arrival & Welcome to Country
Upon arrival, participants will be greeted with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, a sacred practice that signifies respect for the land and a safe journey ahead. Camp facilitators will introduce themselves and guide participants through the camp guidelines, followed by a shared lunch to foster community spirit.
The afternoon is dedicated to cultural workshops, customized to the group’s interests. These sessions may include activities such as fire stick knowledge, weaving, traditional dance, or boomerang throwing. In the evening, participants will gather for a communal dinner, followed by stories around the campfire. These Creation stories provide insight into the rich cultural narratives that shape our identity and connection to Country.
Day 2: Cultural Exploration & Evening Corroboree
Day two begins with a nourishing breakfast, preparing participants for a day of exploration. The group will visit local cultural sites, where they’ll learn about the history, traditions, and significance of each location. Guided by knowledgeable facilitators, participants will gain a deeper appreciation of the land’s stories and the people who have cared for it over generations.
The day continues with more cultural workshops, held by the beach, where participants can enjoy water activities and a relaxing lunch by the shore. In the evening, everyone will come together for the preparation of a Firelight Corroboree, a powerful performance celebrating cultural resilience and connection. A communal dinner follows, providing time for reflection and shared stories.
Day 3: Reflection & Farewell
The final day begins with breakfast, followed by a Wellbeing & Empowerment Yarning Circle. This session provides a supportive space for participants to reflect on their experiences, share personal insights, and celebrate newfound friendships. It’s a chance to recognize personal growth and the importance of cultural connection.
